2023 Health Law Symposium: Measuring Compliance Program Effectiveness
During this informative and timely program, we will be taking a deep dive into 18 NYCRR Part 521 updates and guidance with the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General as well as best practices for compliance program effectiveness reviews considering OMIG and OIG requirements. We will also discuss recent legal updates including proposed changes to health information privacy rules, changes in enforcement guidance and fraud, waste and abuse hot topics.

Kathleen Watras joined OMIG’s Bureau of Compliance in 2012 as the manager for the Compliance Program Review Unit. She was instrumental in the development of OMIG’s compliance program review process and OMIG’s 2016 Compliance Program Review Guidance. Ms. Watras has been the Director of the bureau since 2019 and is responsible for all Bureau of Compliance activities. She was instrumental in the development of amendments to the compliance program regulation (18 NYCRR SubPart 521-1) and related guidance. Previously, she was the Director of OMIG’s Bureau of Collections Management. |
