“The Virtual Evidence Courtroom: A Secure, Simplified and Streamlined Tool for Complex Trials,” New York Law Journal

New York’s Commercial Division Rule 25-a, effective November 2025, promotes the use of the Virtual Evidence Courtroom (VEC), a secure online platform that streamlines trial evidence management. Parties can upload, organize, and track exhibits pre-trial, with materials accessible only to judges and counsel. During trial, the VEC allows real-time marking of admitted exhibits, reducing confusion and enhancing efficiency. The platform improves organization, simplifies presentation—especially with redactions—and is set to expand its features, including support for audio and video files, supported by tutorials.
