July 1, 2018, Syracuse, NY Hancock Estabrook is pleased to announce that Timothy P. Murphy has been elected as Managing Partner of the firm. Mr. Murphy, who joined the firm in 1989, regularly represents major corporations, manufacturers, banks, higher education institutions, municipalities, retailers and individuals in a variety of complex litigation matters. Mr. Murphy is also regularly retained to serve as a Mediator in litigated cases. He has previously served as the firm’s Business Development Partner and Hiring Partner and as a member of its Executive Committee.
Mr. Murphy grew up in Syracuse and is a second-generation lawyer with strong connections to the Central New York community. His father retired as a New York State Supreme Court Justice after 30 years on the bench, and his brother is currently a Supreme Court Justice in Onondaga County. Mr. Murphy is a graduate of Syracuse University College of Law and Le Moyne College. He has served as a member of the New York State Continuing Legal Education Board and has been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers and is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell.
Mr. Murphy has been active in various volunteer positions throughout his career, including serving on Enable’s Board Of Directors (President), Syracuse University College Of Law Alumni Association Board Of Directors, Le Moyne College Board of Governors, Bishop Ludden Jr./Sr. High School Board Of Trustees (Vice Chair), Syracuse Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors, Syracuse University Hardwood Club Board Of Directors, Skaneateles Country Club Board Of Directors, St. Joseph’s Church Finance Committee, United Way of Central New York Division Leader of Small Business Section, ALFA International Finance Committee and United Cerebral Palsy Associations Of New York Board Of Directors.
