John F. Corcoran Named Vice President of New York State Public Employer Labor Relations Association
Syracuse, New York Hancock Estabrook, LLP, Counselors at Law, announced that John F. Corcoran was named Vice President of the New York State Public Employer Labor Relations Association (NYSPELRA) for Region 3.
The NYSPELRA consists of approximately 200 members who represent public employers in labor relations across the state. The NYSPELRA provides its members with information on recent developments in public sector collective bargaining, legislative advocacy, training, and networking opportunities.
Mr. Corcoran is a partner in the Firm, concentrating in the area of Labor and Employment, Public Sector Collective Bargaining, Labor Arbitration, Education and Municipal Law. He is a graduate of Syracuse University College of Law (J.D. magna cum laude) 1993 and the State University of New York at Cortland (B.S.E. cum laude) 1977. Mr. Corcoran is a member of the New York State Bar Association (Fifth District, Executive Committee Member, Labor and Employment Law Section), the Onondaga County Bar Association, and the National and New York State Public Employer Labor Relations Associations.
He is a former Associate Editor of The Labor Lawyer, the American Bar Association’s Journal on Labor and Employment Law. Author: The Arbitrability of Labor Grievances That Arise After Expiration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Syracuse Law Review 1992.
Mr. Corcoran is a past-president of the New York State Public Employer Labor Relations Association and former member of the nominating committee of the National Public Employer Labor Relations Association. He is also a member of the Employment Relations Committee of the Municipal Law Section of the New York State Bar Association, Management Advocates for School Labor Affairs, and the Industrial Relations Research Association.
Mr. Corcoran was formerly a human resources director for Madison County and for Oneida City Hospitals. He is a frequent speaker, at the state and national levels, on labor and employment issues.
