Hancock Estabrook, LLP Elects Two New Partners
Syracuse, New York Hancock Estabrook, LLP, Counselors at Law, announced that Joseph T. Mancuso, concentrating in Business and Corporate Law and John G. Powers concentrating in Civil Litigation have been elected to the Firm’s Partnership.
Mr. Mancuso holds a law degree from Syracuse University College of Law (Summa Cum Laude), where he served as Editor-In-Chief of the Syracuse Law Review. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Syracuse University (Cum Laude).
Mr. Mancuso practices Business and Corporate Law, representing clients in all matters involving business formations, mergers and acquisitions, conventional and tax-exempt financing transactions and commercial transactions. He is admitted to practice law in New York and the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York. Mr. Mancuso is also a member of the Onondaga County Bar Association, New York State Bar Association (Business Law Section), the National Association of Bond Lawyers and New York State Economic Development Council.
Mr. Mancuso is a member of the Francis House steering committee and a member of the Firm’s hiring committee. Mr. Mancuso lives in Syracuse with his wife, Kristin and two children.
Mr. Powers holds a law degree from Syracuse University College of Law (Summa Cum Laude), and received a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy, at West Point, and served for five years on active duty in the Army as an Infantry Officer.
Mr. Powers practices complex commercial litigation, including contract, corporate, products liability and intellectual property matters in both federal and state court. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the District of Columbia, as well as the federal bars for all of the districts in the State of New York, the District of Columbia, the District of Maryland, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
Prior to joining Hancock and Estabrook, Mr. Powers practiced law in Washington D.C., with Arent, Fox, Kintner, Plotkin & Kahn, PLLC. He also served as Law Clerk for the Honorable Frederick J. Scullin, Jr., Chief Judge of the United District Court for the Northern District of New York.
Mr. Powers is a member of the Board of Directors of the McMahon/Ryan Child Advocacy Site and a member of the Firm’s hiring committee. He lives in Syracuse with his wife, Ellen and four children.
