Governor Andrew Cuomo Vetoes OMIG Reforms

On September 23, 2011, Governor Cuomo vetoed legislation that would have made significant changes in the audit and settlement procedures used by the New York State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG). The changes were widely supported by health care providers in New York. Supporters had argued that the changes were necessary to make OMIG’s audit and settlement process more transparent and accountable, and afford more due process rights to providers targeted by OMIG audits.
