OMIG Issues Guidance: How to Pass An 'Effectiveness' Audit

In the summer of 2011, the New York State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) put health care providers on notice that it would move quickly and decisively to assess whether certain New York health care providers (including hospitals, nursing home and certain physician offices) are required to operation certain mandatory compliance programs. OMIG has started conducting audits of compliance programs to determine whether or not they are “effective”, as required by the applicable law. To its credit, OMIG has issued providers extensive guidance on what OMIG auditors will be looking for, as evidence of program efficacy. Click on the links below to access the OMIG guidance.
