
Laurel E. Baum is a partner in the Health Care Practice. She assists clients with health information privacy matters, including state and federal law and regulations, including HIPAA, governing the use and disclosure of PHI, and responding to privacy breaches.
Ms. Baum also has experience with health care fraud and abuse matters, including those relating to the Anti-Kickback and Stark Law. She provides assistance with Medicare and Medicaid compliance, including claims submissions, overpayments and self-disclosure. Ms. Baum also provides counsel on physician and hospital contracting processes and compliance, physician nurse practitioner and physician assistant professional practice, licensure and disciplinary matters, bioethics and clinical care issues and EMTALA.
Ms. Baum is a registered nurse with past experience in pediatrics, adult critical care and nursing management. She is also a former compliance officer for an academic medical center.
